How to contact your Leads

There is also another way….

Sometimes knowing beforehand, what the possible outcomes are helpful.  You could see calling your leads as a sorting exercise.  There are five buckets or funnels that your lead can fall into  That’s it.  None of them are that scary at all.  Seeing contacting leads as just a sorting exercise takes the “scariness” out of the situation.

The five different buckets are:

  1.        Join your business
  2.        Join as a customer
  3.        Join as an affiliate
  4.        Don’t join and stay on your list
  5.        Don’t join and unsubscribe from your list

Every single of the people who have opted in to get some information from you will fall into one of those buckets.  Your job when contacting them, is to help them decide which bucket to go into.

You do this by asking questions.  When someone has requested information from you – they want what you have.  Imagine you are looking for a hat.  You go to the mall where they sell hats.  You look through the windows of all the hat stores.  Finally, you see one that looks like what you are looking for.  It seems to be the right size, color, and style.

So, you go into the store to try it out.  While you are in the store you see another one that you think is more suitable, so you try that one on.  You decide to get that one, and pay for it.  When you get home, you try it with the other things in your wardrobe.  After doing this, you have 2 choices.  You either change your mind or return it to the store for a refund.

Alternatively, you are happy with your purchase and keep it.

Either way the storeowner doesn’t get upset that you didn’t buy the first hat or saw.

Or when you return it, because you decide it doesn’t suit your needs.  And nor should you when someone says no thanks to what you are offering.
