The Crucial Leadership Trait List

Leadership is a skill that can be developed, getting good at the skills on this Leadership Trait List

1.  Start speaking like a leader

Leaders don’t use words like:

  • I’m bad at….
  • I don’t know…
  • If only…
  • I am confused…
  • I am overwhelmed…..

Our words reflect our thoughts.  When you start paying attention to what your thoughts are, your words will change   Leaders certainly have down days, and days when these thoughts circulate.  The different is what happens after the thought.  Leaders turn them around on the inside and voice that out to the world.  Instead they may say:

  • I’m finding out how to/what to…..
  • This is what I can do in….
  • I’m getting better and better at…
  • In the past I was challenged by…
  • I am getting better at it now

This moves you forward instead of keeping you back

2.   Analyse results

It doesn’t matter what your results are, there is always room for improvement.

To achieve better and better results you must measure and analyze your results, so that you can see what you can change to get better results.

Even if you are getting great results, you can always improve

3. Prepare to lead

This is very counter-intuitive.  If you want to be a leader you must start with the end in mind.

When starting out you will have many questions.  If you begin with the end in mind, you will document these questions.  This will give you valuable content that you can share with your team and others who are just starting out in Network Marketing.  You don’t have to be a guru to lead, but you do have to be prepared.

Be willing to show others who may only be a few steps behind you the way.

4.  Have credibility

This is the greatest obstacle for most new marketers because they feel that have to have made it big before they have credibility.  The definition of marketing is finding a target market and then solving a problem for that target market.  So, your target market will match where you on your development journey.

If you have only been going, a few months your target market won’t be helping network marketers take their business to the 7 figures.  Your target market will probably be helping new network marketers start their business.

In that, target market you already have credibility because you have already figured out, what the new to network marketing marketer needs.

This also tracks back to preparing to lead – document all the questions you have a long your network marketing journey.

5.  Embrace Sales

If you can’t sell anything you cannot help anyone.  Imagine if your sponsor didn’t know or want to know how to sell?

Would you be where you are now?  Would you have learnt what you have learnt?  Would you have the income you now have – or have the potential to earn?

6.  Leadership development is a process

Network Marketing is so easy to get into.  There is no interview process and in most cases, the financial investment is very low.  However, this often comes with the lottery mentality.

People believing that they will become overnight success and walk away from the job in a few months.  Although its possible, it not probable.

Developing the skill on this Leadership Trait List takes time.    You must put in the effort to develop your leadership skills.

7.  They have an entourage

Look around who you are hanging around with.  Are the people hanging out with you go getters and people who are genuinely putting in the effort to make their business work?  Or are the people hanging out with you, complaining that things are too expensive, too hard etc.

Take a good look at whom you are following.  Who are their mentors and who are their followers?

Build the skills that you need to master the Leadership Trait List and you will be successful
